Texas Workforce Commission Positions

The Texas Workforce Commission has awarded the City of Houston a grant for temporary job positions to assist in the aftermath of Harvey! The positions range from labor positions to semi-professional and professional. Interested applicants must register at a Workforce Solutions office. Please be advised that in order to qualify for employment in this program, individuals must meet at least one or more of the following criteria:

Individuals who are temporarily or permanently dislocated from work because of Hurricane Harvey, or
Individuals who are dislocated workers: 1 or 2
1. A and B and C

A. Laid off or received notice of lay off; And

B. Receiving or eligible to receive Unemployment Benefits or have Exhausted unemployment benefits; AND

C. Who are unlikely to return to their previous occupation or industry, or

2. Veteran discharged under honorable conditions within the last 48 months, or

Individuals who are long-term unemployed. “Long-term unemployed” means unemployed and searching for employment for 10 weeks or more at the time they apply for Workforce Solutions financial aid, or
Self-employed individuals who became unemployed or significantly underemployed because of Hurricane Harvey. Workforce Solutions will identify eligible candidates for these positions once they are registered.
